The chart shows the number of coins that a woman has in her wallet. What fraction of the total value of the money is the value of the nickels, in cents? (Reduce fraction to lowest terms).

The correct answer is 25/113. To find the total value in coins, multiply the number of each coin by its value.
26(0.01) + 10(0.05) + 5(0.10) + 4(0.25) = 0.26 + 0.50 + 0.50 + 1.00 = 2.26, which is 226 cents.

The value of the nickels is 10(0.05) = 0.5, or 50 cents.

The fraction of nickels, then, will be 50/226 which reduces to 25/113.
