Similar to Principle questions, Parallel Reasoning questions will ask you to match reasoning. These questions may sometimes ask to match fallacious reasoning.
CHALLENGE: Link similar reasoning
Parallel Flaw questions are focused on finding the conclusion and are easily identifiable. These questions are phrased like this:
- Which one of the following contains a flaw that most closely parallels the flaw contained in the passage?
How to solve
- Identify the premises and the conclusion: The answer is the conclusion.
- Avoid trap choices: Perhaps more than any question type, Main Idea questions have the most devious trap answer choices.
a) Avoid answer choices that are true, but aren’t the Main Idea.
b) Don’t pick a premise of the argument.
